Use Broad Spectrum Protection
When choosing a sunscreen, always choose one that offers a broad spectrum. This includes an all-around skin barrier against UVB and UVA rays. Since sunscreen can be easily rubbed off, it’s important to choose a sunscreen that lasts for a long while. Also, opt for broad-spectrum even as a daily sunblock underneath your moisturizer to make sure you’re protected year-round.
Pick The Time to be Outside
It may not sound practical, but being outside from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM is one of the harshest hours of the day and it’s best to avoid going outside at this time unless it’s absolutely necessary. When spending your lunch break outside, just make sure to keep next to a shaded area and cool down when you feel like you’re getting too much heat. Keeping a spray bottle filled with water and essential oils and occasionally spraying it on your face and neck can help relieve heat strokes.
Don’t Soley Rely on Sunscreen
While it’s great to protect your skin with sunblock, it’s also important to follow up by wearing a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses. Pairing that with pants and long shorts in the summer is critical in avoiding the sun. When you’re sitting outside, it’s also a great idea to relax under an umbrella or a shaded area to make sure your entire body is shielded.
