Born in the colony of Portuguese Mozambique, her father was a Portuguese oncologist and her mother a Portuguese and British national. After earning a BA in Romance Languages and Literature from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, she completed further studies in Geneva before moving to the U.S. to be an interpreter at the United Nations. In 1966, just three years after leaving Switzerland, Teresa married future U.S. Senator John Heinz, an heir to the H.J. Heinz Company. With Heinz, Teresa had three boys, however a sad turn of events was going to tear the family apart. In 1991, Senator Heinz died in a plane crash. Net Worth: $20 billion Source: George Soros (Father) The son of billionaire philanthropist and business George Soros, next up is Alexander Soros. His father George, born in Hungary, he emigrated to the United Kingdom and attended the London School of Economics. He began his first hedge fund, Double Eagle, in 1969, which gave him the seed money to start Soros Fund Management. Double Eagle, which became Quantum Fund, was estimated to hold assets worth over $25 billion US. Amazing. With a father who’s known as “The Man Who Broke the Bank of England” (because his short sale turned him a profit of $1 billion during the infamous 1992 Black Wednesday UK currency crisis), Alexander sure has a lot to live up to… or not.

The NYU and Berkeley alumnus earned a Ph.D. in history, and then he was sat on the board of the Open Society Foundation, his father’s philanthropic agency. Did you know that as of Feb 2018, George Soros was worth $8 billion, having donated over $32 billion to this agency? Aside from being deputy chair, the playboy son of Soros is actually a successful writer, having bene published in Politico, The Guardian, The Forward and many othrs. Like his father, Soros has the giving gene, contributing to the Jewish Funds for Justice, which is an American charity helping Jewish causes. He also is on the board of Global Witness, which campaigns against human rights abuses by multinational companies in poor countries. His work with environmental activists has seen a few trips to the Amazon rainforest, but it seems in general, Soros is giving back to the world, what the world gave his family!

The Phoenix, Arizona-born Cindy McCain is famous for more than having been married to the U.S Senator and 2008 Republican presidential nominee John McCain. Net Worth: $2.6 billion Source: Sam Walton (Walmart) When you’re the granddaughter of a man who was, at one point, the richest man in America, there’s bound to be a heck of a lot of inheritance down the line for you! Such us the case for Whitney Kroenke Burditt, whose grandfather was a Walmart retail tycoon, James Walton.

As an heiress of the Walmart fortune, the Los Angeles-born Kroenke Burditt surely knew she wouldn’t have a problem when it came to dollars in the bank account! The daughter of Ann Walton and Stan Kroenke, Whitney went into film production, and now resides in Hollywood. In the late 19th century, Hearst was known for publishing the largest chain of American newspapers, as well as for the sensational brand of “yellow journalism” (using shocking headlines to catch people’s attention rather than using hard facts!).

As the daughter of William’s son, Hearst was in line to inherit the fortune which Hearst Corporation has grown over the years. These days, the corporation owns not only newspapers and magazines but television stations and channels and 50% of the A&E Networks cable network group and 20% of ESPN, which are in partnership with The Walt Disney Company. So yeah, a lot. You might remember from earlier we spoke of a Hearst who was kidnapped and taken into a “cult” – so Anne is her sister! That darn Symbionese Liberation Army eh? But aside from its agricultural pursuits, it has a diversified business portfolio, with a hand in the real estate market, as well as in oil, gas, chocolate (duh, important commodity!) and meatpacking. Back to our showjumper Gwendolyn, the heiress was born in 1962, and inherited a 7% stake in Cargill. A dedicated equestrian, Meyer over the course of her life has won several prizes, including winning the Prix Credit Suisse at the Geneva International Horse Show. These days, the heiress spends her time on her farm in Rancho Santa Fe, California, training horses that compete in show jumping. Imagine being wealthy enough to just live for your passion, and not worry about the financials!

Net Worth: $1 billion Source: White Birch Paper The NYC-born, Greenwich resident (of course, duh), is one of the city’s hottest socialites and heirs. A model and fashion designer, the 25-year-old is the son of businessman and art collector Peter M. Brant and supermodel Stephanie Seymour. He and his brother Harry have been labeled by The New York Times as the “Princes of New York.” Quite the title, eh? We’re not really sold, but we did hear that in 2015 he collaborated with Mac Cosmetics, launching a unisex cosmetics line aimed at the Gender fluid youth movement. We’re all about inclusivity, so we can back him on that one!

His attitude towards his family’s wealth may be somewhat arrogant and unsettling to some (shucks sorry, were we projecting our opinion?), but he did tell Harper’s Bazaar that “We had to do a report about our parents: where they were born, what they did, and all that. Everyone else had to do theirs as homework, but I finished mine before class ended using Wikipedia.” We get it, hotshot. But we aren’t the only ones who are a little irked by his behaviour, Vanity Fair described him as “enfant terrible.” Hilarious. In 2017 she was engaged at The Four Seasons in Kona, Hawaii (which her father conveniently owns), after being proposed to with a 12-carat diamond. Yah. 12-carats, in one single diamond.

The daughter of Bud Walton and Audrey Walton, Nancy inherited billions. $6.6 billion, if you want a dollar figure. She married former NBA coach and player Bill Laurie, with whom she has a daughter, Paige. Geez, one kid for all those dollars. Lucky girl? Who said money buys you happiness anyway?! (*insert eye roll emoji*). Nancy is livin’ it up that’s for sure, recently having purchased a $40 million mansion in the exclusive suburb of Bel-Air. Oh and she’s got a $135 million superyacht. No biggie.

The youngest daughter of Walton, Nancy inherited half of her father’s stake, whilst her sister Ann Kroenke inherited the other half. A graduate of the Horace Mann School and then Harvard (well, he didn’t technically graduate from Harvard as he dropped out and started a record label instead!), he had a business mind, and soon was hired by Sky Television in Hong Kong, heading the company as its CEO. Down the track, Murdoch took over the development of News Corporation’s media platforms, but was caught up in a previous phone hacking scandal whilst he was the chairman of British Sky Broadcasting. News of the World quickly became the news of the world! At one point too, Murdoch was the chairman of 21st Century Fox, with control over media channels which function globally!

Most recently Disney’s $71.3 billion takeovers of the majority of 21st Century Fox has left Murdoch now unemployed. But it seems that Murdoch is looking beyond the family business. In March 2019, Murdoch founded Lupa Systems (Lupa is Latin for female wolf – and its origins go back to the idea that the company wants to nurture early-stage companies and invest from the beginning), but observers are keeping a watchful eye on the young Murdoch as to what move he makes next. Net Worth: $7.6 billion Source: Walmart, Inc. So we just heard about her younger sister, Nancy, but now it’s time to hear a little about older sister Ann Kroenke. The other half of the Walmart fortune went to Ann, who now has a net worth over $7 billion. A registered nurse, Kroenke isn’t actually involved with Walmart as a board member or an executive; instead, she has the freedom to pursue whatever she wants but still receive dividends! Together with her husband Stan Kroenke, who is worth even more than his wife, the pair own Arsenal Football Club in the UK, as well as the LA Rams, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, and Colorado Rapids! Fun fact: “Silent Stan” Kroenke is worth a cool $8.8 billion. That’s independent of Ann. Crazy money!

The pair married in 1974 and have two children together, Josh and Whitney. Whilst we’re not totally sure what Ann gets up to apart from being a philanthropist and exploring the world in her superyacht, we do know that the coffers are overflowing for the Walton-Kroenkes, that’s for sure.

Lynsi Lavelle Snyder-Ellingson is a billionaire businesswoman and heiress of the famed burger chain. As the only child of Lynda and H. Guy Snyder and the only grandchild of Harry and Esther Snyder, the entire wealth falls to Lynsi! According to Bloomberg Billionaires Index, in 2012, Snyder was America’s youngest female billionaire. Until Instagram and Kylie Jenner came along and the makeup giant knocked her off the top spot!

On her thirty-fifth birthday, Lynsi became the full owner of the business and became president after Mark Taylor, her brother-in-law. For a long time, Snyder has been called reclusive – hey, if she wants to decline interviews, she’s more than entitled to doing so! In a twist which rocked the nation, scandalous evidence showed that Gloria was an unfit parent, with Gertrude winning custody. You’re thinking about the latest iPhone, or you’re thinking about the shiny new Mac computer you can’t wait to get your hands on! Ah, marketing. Anywho, next up is the daughter of the man behind Apple, Steve Jobs. After passing away just a little while ago, the fortune has made its way to his daughter, Lisa Jobs. The Portland, Oregon native studied at Harvard and is the daughter of the former CEO and his first wife, Chrisann Brennan, whom was his high school sweetheart. During their rollercoaster five-year relationship, Brennan was pregnant. Jobs for a while claimed he was not the father, even after taking a paternity test, which showed he was indeed her father! Gee.. good with technology, not so good with handling kids.

Heir to the H-E-B Supermarket chain which is well-liked in the South, the business turns over a cool $20 billion per year. The popular supermarket chain is also popular as an employer, with his wonderful management tactics having him rated (as per AdvisoryCloud’s rankings) as the #5 Top CEO on its Top CEO List for 2013.

Charles was the son of Howard Edward Butt Sr., and Mary Elizabeth Holdsworth, and in turn, the grandson of Florence Butt, who founded the chain in 1905. He graduated from UPenn’s Wharton School before going on to later earn an MBA from Harvard Business School. In 1971 he was primed and ready to take the reins of the business, becoming chairman and CEO of the H.E. Butt Grocery Company. As well as being a billionaire, Butt is a philanthropist and was recognized by the Mexican government for his charity work and business help in their country. As such, he was given the Aguila Azteca medal for his involvement. Additionally, Butt has signed Warren Buffett’s famous Giving Pledge and has written that he will release his wealth to help children and teachers. What a guy!

Nicole Mellon

Net Worth: $1 billion Source: Matthew Mellon Nicole Mellon was married to Matthew Mellon, whom, despite his wealthy family and ties, made his fortune in a quicker, more lucrative way than most: cryptocurrency. The great, great, great grandson of Thomas Mellon (founder of Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh), he became the patriarch of one of America’s richest dynasties. At 21 he inherited a series of trusts worth $25 million and lived a fast and hard life. He met his first wife, Tamara Mellon (yes for you Jimmy Choo wearers, she’s a co-founder of the famous brand!) at A.A in 1998. Move over Tinder… Mellon, who was named Finance Chairman by State Chairman Ed Cox in 2011, made an investment of $2-million in the cryptocurrency XRP, which transformed into a staggering $1-billion fortune. Talk about a great investment!

Mellon wed Nicole Hanley and had two children with her, Olympia and Force. The couple and their children lived together in New York City up until their divorce in 2016. George, who founded the Brown Forman Corp. in 1870, stumbled upon a business that would grow to be one of the largest American-owned companies in wine and spirits. Founded in Louisville Kentucky, it was the first of a few successful businesses for the Brown family. Brown III’s father was a philanthropist from Kentucky, and is known for owning Bittners, LLC, a 150-year-old interior design, architectural and furniture business which is based in Louisville.

As for Owsley Brown III? Well he’s a film producer. After graduating in 1993 from the University of Virginia, he went down the film production path.
