Princess Anne at a Ford Party
Even royals knew how to have fun back in the 1970s. Below we see none other than Princess Anne attending a banquet on December 19th, 1973. The princess is dressed to the nines in a gorgeous gown and hairdo and wearing a big smile (which maybe was the result of copious amounts of alcohol).
The banquet was thrown in honor of famous Scottish racing driver Jackie Stewart, who was retiring from an illustrious career in motor racing. Ford organized the party, so you can imagine there were all the best party favors, and all the attendees in the photo seemed to be wearing chauffeur caps in honor of the racer and looked very entertained.
Elton John Amuses Party Guests
Legendary singer Elton John sure knew how to party and dress! To be honest, the "Rocket Man" still does! But he was absolutely renowned for it back in the '70s. The man has the most incredible repertoire of costumes and party photos and always seems to be having the best time.
Above, we see Elton John having a blast in 1974 while entertaining party guests by wearing some very quirky glasses that seem to be adorned with some kind of string. The most amused seems to befriend an actress, Nanette Newman, who was a huge film star in the 70s.
Johnny Carson at The Tonight Show's 10th Anniversary Party
Before Jimmy Fallon and Jon Stewart, there was Johnny Carson, otherwise known as the godfather of American show hosting. During the 70s, Carson was one of America's most famous T.V. personas, the star of The Tonight Show, and also a comedian, producer, and writer of the show. Being a good show host goes hand in hand with being a people person and loving social events.
Above, we see Carson at the Tonight Show's 10th-anniversary party in 1972, alongside his wife Joanna Holland and famous attendees like director Bobby Quinn. Drinking champagne, dressed to impress, and in a very fancy venue.
Barry Manilow and the Golden Girls
The 70s wouldn't have been the same with songs like 'Mandy' and 'Could It Be Magic.' These and dozens of other chart-topping hits made singer Barry Manilow one of America's most famous music artists. And the man sure loved his parties. Back in the day, Manilow was quite a looker, as you can see here.

Bob Crewe Living it Up at a Brazilian Nightclub
Now, this guy looks like he knows how to party. Below we see Bob Crewe with a friend partying in 1977 at the famous Brazilian-themed nightclub, Cachaca, in NYC. Bob Crewe was the American singer, songwriter, dancer, and record producer behind some of the 60s and 70s most famous songs.
He and Bob Gaudio wrote the famous "Can't Take My Eyes Off You," performed by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Crewe and Gaudio went on to write several Top 10 singles for the Four Seasons, believe it or not. Crewe was also involved with the music group Disco-Tex and the Sex-O-Lettes.
Morgan Freeman
No introduction is needed here, as we are all familiar with actor Morgan Freeman and his stellar acting career. The star of movies such as "The Shawshank Redemption" and "Se7en" is renowned for having been something of a late bloomer in Hollywood. So it's funny to see him in his younger years.
Apart from being a brilliant actor, he also knew how to party hard when the occasion called for it. Above, we see Freeman with his wife Jeanette attending the premiere party for the Broadway show "Might Gents," where he starred. The year was 1978, and the Freemans were ready for a very fun night.

We're used to seeing this one getting chased around by a mask-wearing serial killer in the dark of night. But in reality, this Hollywood star had plenty of carefree, fun-loving nights during this glorious time. The "Halloween" film series star Jamie Leigh Curtis also had her share of fun back in the 70s.

No actor was the embodiment of the old-school, silent American hero like John Wayne. It was hard to watch a Western film from the 50s, 60s, or 70s without John Wayne starring in it. But as hard as he worked, the actor also knew how to blow off some steam.

You can rest assured that Frank was churning out some classic numbers like "New York New York."
They all look like proper, old-school Hollywood glamour, which was a nice sight to see in the disco and groovy parties of the 70s. This photograph could have been taken at any 1950s Hollywood party, and we wouldn't know any better! Just goes to show how iconic Sinatra was.

American rock musician Alice Cooper has rocked stages worldwide for five decades, and it seems hard to find a photo of him where he doesn't look 60 years old. However, there was a time when Cooper was young, like in the 1975 photo below. We actually see a hint of youth in the "Poison" singer.

With an I.Q. of 172, Zappa was a certified genius, and that seeped into his music compositions and his obvious satire of American culture. He was also known to love a very wild lifestyle.

Robert De Niro Sr. Has a Show at SoHo Art Gallery
Everybody knows Robert De Niro, the actor, but few are aware that his father, Robert Senior, was a famous painter. Yes, the talent really does run in the family. De Niro Sr. was an American painter who focused on abstract expressionism and had several art shows in some of the country's most prestigious galleries.

Michelle Phillips rose to fame as the vocalist of the popular 60s band The Mamas and the Papas, once being called the "purest soprano in pop music." The band wasn't without their fair share of controversy, but their music was undeniably iconic. Below, we see the beautiful Phillips next to famous actor Warren Beatty at a party in 1975.
The party was in honor of the opening night of the Broadway play "Man in the Moon," written by the Mamas and the Papas member John Phillips. The celebrities are sitting at a table at New York's famous Italian restaurant, Sardi's.
The Who Party at a Subway Station
Below we see the legendary British musicians John Entwhistle, Pete Townshend, and Keith Moon, all members of one of the greatest rock bands that ever lived – The Who. Maybe John has that confused expression because the party is at a subway station in New York. An actual subway station, underground.
The party was for the 1975 film "Tommy," based on the rock opera album by The Who, of the same name. If you never saw the movie, we strongly recommend you look it up and watch it immediately. This band knew how to party and rocked much of the 70s.

Jamaican fashion, music, and acting icon Grace Jones is a one-of-a-kind woman. Her stunning looks, her strong and fierce demeanor, her outfits, they are almost too fabulous to be human. Jones was a regular on the 70s party scene, often attending with equally famous friends, all around the world for that matter.

The embodiment of rock and roll, Mick Jagger, has had one of the most successful music careers in history with his band, The Rolling Stones. Frankly, after the amount of hard partying these guys have done for more than 50 years, it is an absolute miracle to still see them on stage.

This photo is a bit confusing, as it includes a 13-year-old Brooke Shields hanging out with a 33-year-old, Debbie Harry. The Blondie lead singer and famous rocker girl Harry were attending a platinum record party at the re-opened Copacabana nightclub in NYC in 1978. Of course, Shields wouldn't get famous until the '80s, but this was prime fame time for Harry.
Apparently, a young Brooke Shields thought it would be cool to pose next to a rockstar, which, let's face it, it is. We're just wondering if Shields' parents were there at the party somewhere. Hopefully yes. Blondie were all the rage at this time, with hits such as "Rapture" and "Atomic."
Lou Reed Attends the Eric Emerson Funeral
Below we see American musician Lou Reed talking to a friend at the funeral of Eric Emerson, a star in Warhol movies. The funeral took place in New York in June of 1975, and even though it was a tragic event, Reed looks like he is straight out of a rock concert.
Lou Reed was a songwriter, musician, and poet with a career that lasted more than 50 years, first as the main member of the famous band The Velvet Underground and then as a solo artist. You know the song "Satellite of Love?" Yeah, that for sure was Lou.
The Myers Go to the Prom
You can definitely tell that both these people are artists. Just look at that fabulous zebra-pattern suit! And that mustache? It's good enough to put Tom Selleck to shame! The couple in question are landscape designer Debra Arch Myers and famous artist Forrest Frosty Myers.
The stylish couple attended the PS1 Prom in New York in 1976. The PS1 Prom was an event held by Public School 1 in Queens that served as a fundraiser for repurposing abandoned spaces for artistic activities. There is no denying that Frosty's zebra stripes suits were bound to turn some heads during that night. Amazing to think that it was about 50 years ago.
Farah Fawcett Dances at Her Shampoo Party
American actress Farah Fawcett rose to fame after her iconic role in the 1976's TV show Charlie's Angels. She played the blonde bombshell, and it earned her four Emmy Awards nominations and six Golden Globe nominations. Fawcett also loved to party, as you can see in the photo below, where she's happily dancing.
Fawcett was attending a party at Studio 54 in New York in 1978. The party was to promote the actress's new line of Hair products, namely the Faberge Farrah Fawcett Shampoo. Many will forget that Fawcett passed away on the exact same day as the one and only Michael Jackson.

Even though Dennis Hopper looks like he's about to pass out and Jack Nicholson is just annoying him, we would pay good money to know what they were actually talking about. The two "Easy Rider" actors were attending the Academy Awards Ceremony after party in 1970.

Not everyone on this list is going to be a household name. But if you were swinging back in the 70s, you'd know exactly who these two ladies are. Gorgeous actress Lauren Hutton and friend Susie Forrestal look like they are having a blast in this photo. They were probably ecstatic to arrive at the famous Xenon Disco nightclub in 1978.
The ladies were attending an opening party for famous fashion photographer Richard Avedon. Hutton is dressed in a classy suit and stylish brimmed hat, while friend Susie decides to go all out, wearing black leather from head to toe.
Carrie Fisher Goes All Out for Thanksgiving

The three were iconic actresses during the 70s, 80s, and even 90s. You might remember Amy Irving from the 1976 iconic films 'Carrie,' "Yentl,' and 'Voices,' among others. While Teri Garr was in films such as 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind' and 'Tootsie.' Of course, Fisher was best known for her performance as Princess Leia in the "Star Wars" franchise - starring in multiple movies.
Freddie Mercury Rocks Out at a Concert After-Party
Apart from his uniquely unbelievable vocal range, Freddie Mercury was a fashion guru. The lead vocalist of the legendary rock band Queen was always dressed to impress, and he had the rockstar attitude to go with it. When he wasn't in the studio or on the road touring, Mercury loved partying and hanging out with friends.

There is no denying that Iggy Pop is completely unrecognizable in the following photo. We're so used to that old, disheveled, wrinkly version of him. The 'Godfather of Punk' looks ready to party in this 1977 Blondie concert at the famous Whiskey club in West Hollywood. Iggy Pop is one of the most famous punk-rock musicians in the world, having a career that spans over four decades.
Pop began with his proto-punk band The Stooges back in 1967 and rose to fame during the 70s and 80s. The band broke up and reconciled several times, but that didn't seem to affect their fame or their fans' commitment.
A Young, Hippie-looking David Bowie Performs at a Party
It's almost impossible to recognize this man as David Bowie at first glance. Few people remember him as a young, 24-year-old long-haired hippie. But alas, here's the proof – in the photo below, we see a pre-glam Bowie jamming with his guitar at a party organized by future nightclub owner DJ Rodney Bingenheimer in 1971.
The party was at lawyer Paul Figen's house in Los Angeles, and we're sure that judging by his performance, it wasn't surprising to the guests to see Bowie at the top of the music world a few years later. David Bowie was one of the world's most famous and influential rock stars during the 70s and 80s, and his legacy lives on to this day.
Billy Preston and Mick Jagger Celebrate a Rolling Stones' Album
Here are two musical legends having a nice chat at an album premiere party in 1973, at Blenheim Palace, in Oxfordshire, England. Don't you just love it when worlds collide? It feels like these two had plenty of interesting things to share with each other and were able to really get the creative juices flowing.
American keyboardist Billy Preston seems quite engrossed in conversation with rockstar Mick Jagger while the two attend the promotional party for The Rolling Stones album, Goats Head Soup. Preston was a brilliant keyboardist and funk, soul, rock, and gospel singer that worked with The Plastic Ono Band and Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band.

The coolest cat of all, funk god Stevie Wonder celebrates the new year on December 31st, 1977, at the famous Giorgio's Restaurant in New York City. We don't know who was sitting next to him, but we are sure the musician was in excellent company.
Stevie Wonder is lauded for being one of America's pioneers and biggest influences on the genre of R&B, soul, funk, jazz, gospel, and pop. With over 100 million records sold, dozens of chart-topping hits, and a stellar music career that has spanned over four decades, we can honestly say that Wonder is a bonafide legend.
Bruce Springsteen Attends a Sting Concert
All-American rock legend Bruce Springsteen attended an after-party with his girlfriend, Patti Scialfa, in 1988. It was a post-concert after-party thrown by Sting at the famous Canal Bar in NYC. So basically, an event any person of sound mind would love to be at. The couple got married three years later, in 1991.
Bruce Springsteen rose to fame during the 70s with his backing E Street Band. The rocker is still active today, with over 21 studio albums and dozens of movie soundtracks under his belt. He and patti are still happily married and she stood by him every step of the way.
Shirley MacLaine and Donald Sutherland Party at the White Elephant
American actress Shirley MacLaine has played strong-willed, quirky women during her seven-decade career. The woman is a powerhouse that continues to act in popular Hollywood films. The film's premiere party and press event included quite the guest list, with icons like John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Susan Sontag, and actress Jeanne Moreau in attendance. All mentioned are pictured below.
A bright-eyed, young Yoko Ono had recently gotten married to the ex-Beatle, three years earlier. Brilliant writer Susan Sontag had recently published her famous collection of essays, "Radical Styles of Will," and actress Jeanne Moreau was at the height of her acting career. A bunch of legends.

On October 3rd, 1970, the famous Friars Club in Beverly Hills threw a party in honor of American film actor and producer M.J. Frankovich. Naturally, the attendees included all sorts of A-list celebrities, including record producer Quincy Jones, Altovise Davis (Sammy Davis Jr.'s wife), and Ulla Andersson (Quincy Jone's wife at the time), all pictured below.
Altovise Davis was an American entertainer and Sammy Davis Jr.'s third wife, with whom she was married for 20 years. Quincy Jones is one of America's most famous and respected record producers, with a career of over seven decades. His daughter Rashida is a talented actress in her own right.
Cher Attended a Movie Premiere in 1977
Diva Cher and friend Nick Grant are pictured below attending the movie premiere of the comedy-drama film, "Joseph Andrews," in March 1977. The premiere party was at the luxurious Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles and included a star-studded guest list, with actress Ann-Margret, Beryl Reid, Peter Firth, and more.
Of course, one of the most noticeable guests was the stunning Cher in her sparkling blue gown that night. And let's not forget her signature black curly mane. At 64, American Western hero John Wayne still enjoyed a good party. In the photo below, we see Wayne getting some drinks at a charity costume party in Los Angeles in 1971. The man was still making movies, the most recent being 'Big Jake,' released in that same year.

The 60s and 70s wouldn't have been the same without Canadian folk singer Joni Mitchell. A very important figure in the counterculture and beat generation of the 60s, Joni Mitchell's songs became anthems of the times. These included her classic number "Big Yellow Taxi," as well as the entirety of her album "Blue."

Heartthrob Patrick Swayze rose to fame during the late 70s and went on to have a very successful acting career during the 80s and 90s. One of the first movies he starred in was 1979's 'Skatetown, USA,' a comedy musical released at the height of the roller disco craze.

Now here's a couple that was the epitome of 70s grooviness, music legend Sammy Davis Jr. and his wife, Altovise Davis. In the photo below, the couple is caught sneaking a romantic kiss while attending a party around 1975.
Altovise Davis was an entertainer and dancer known for her very stylish fashion, like her cool black halter top. Sammy is wearing a vintage, patterned blouse with a patchwork vest over it and matching pants. Of course, Sammy Davis Jr. was part of the legendary Rat Pack, alongside the likes of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. They were an absolute force of nature.

A very happy Candace Bergen is being carried by 70s party boy, model, and actor Sterling St. Jacques on a night out in New York City. The beautiful American actress Candace Bergen rose to fame for her star role in the CBS series Murphy Brown. The role earned Bergen five Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes.
As for Sterling St. Jacques, he was mostly known as a grey-eyed, extremely handsome hunk that starred in some 70s movies and was clearly a top-earning model. The picture above was taken around 1979 in New York. St. Jacques tragically passed away in 1984 from AIDS complications.

The New York-born entertainer and performer had a prolific career during the 70s and early 80s, appearing on SNL and releasing several comedy specials of his own. There was nobody quite like him, truth be told.
Above we see Kaufman playfully wrestling a friend at The Improv Club's 15th -anniversary party in 1978 in Hollywood. Kaufman was such an enigma throughout his life that even his biographical 1999 movie "Man on the Moon," starred by Jim Carrey, leaves many questions unanswered. That should tell you everything you need to know about the comedic legend.
Brigitte Bardot Goes to Her Own Exhibition
One of the most famous symbols of the 50s and 60s, French actress and model Brigitte Bardot, was simply breathtaking. Bardot made a name for herself by playing film roles of free characters and strong, independent women with wild lifestyles.

Richard Gere at Studio 54
The famed club Studio 54 could not seem to get rid of The American Gigolo back in the 70s. Before Richard Gere got his claim to fame in 1980 with his role in "The American Gigolo," he partied his nights away at this popular nightclub.
Dressed to impress, he was spotted with one of his lady friends as he took to a night of debauchery and disco in one of NYC's finest spots at the time. It was definitely not wasted since his love for dance and beats eventually got him a role in the 2002 flick "Chicago," a classical musical. Perhaps his days of dancing and discoing at the club played a part in the roles that he managed to land further down the line.
Truman Capote Was Kaput
Despite the fact that the true-crime novelist Truman Capote may have gone completely kaput by indulging a little bit too much one night out, one can't help but admire how classy he looks with his white hat and black outfit.
This picture was taken in the summer of 1978, featuring a younger version of Kate Harrington, who played in "Love Story" and "Child's Play," as well as Gloria Swanson, the legendary movie star known for her silent roles. Swanson was at one stage the highest-paid star in Hollywood for her roles in silent films, and she clearly loved to party even at the older age of 79. It's also clear that Hollywood's finest stars loved to mingle with NYC's elite, and what better place to do that than at New York's Studio 54?
Jerry Hall Adding a Touch of Elegance
Like a lot of stars from the 70s era, Jerry Hall also liked to frequent NYC's Studio 54. The model and actress was making waves in the show biz industry in the 70s and was often spotted strolling around the clubs with male celebrities flocking around her. She always made sure to wear something that showed off her fabulous figure.
Her 70s attire did not leave much to the imagination. Bodysuits, lace and sheer all used to be a common choice for the supermodel to parade around in. That lush head of hair and her air of confidence was more than enough to finish off her outfit elegantly. When Hall was present, the vibe was always better.
Curtis Mayfield's Soulful Appearance
The legend Curtis Mayfield was another music star to grace the floors of Studio 54. Mayfield was the soul and funk 'it' guy in the 70s and is best known for getting to cover the full soundtrack of the cult classic "Super Fly," which aired in the early 70s.
It's clear that he was having a blast of a night if you look at the massive smile on his face as he posed for this picture in 1977. But it's certain that the Studio 54 club-goers had an even bigger blast of a night on this particular evening that Mayfield joined.
Dolly Parton Bringing Out the Country at Studio 54
Dolly Parton might have been the reason that there was a white horse at Studio 54, but it was actually Bianca Jagger who made the horse famous. The Studio 54 owner at the time, Steve Rubell, arranged the horse at the club in hopes of impressing the queen of country music.
Yes, Dolly loved the stunning white horse, but apparently, this was not the only animal to wander around the club on that night. Reportedly, the night was filled with mules and chickens present on the dancefloor. As much as it was a NYC nightclub, it still managed to host a strong flair of country on some nights.
Michael Jackson and Woody Allen Partying It Up
Now, this is a rare sighting: a big-time pop star seated next to the cerebral and introverted filmmaker Woody Allen in a nightclub. But as we have already seen, anything was possible at Studio 54 back in the day. This photo was taken in the summer of 1977 at a Carter Burden party, which was hosted at NYC's most loved club at the time.
It seems that the nightclub's strict and fancy dress code was forgotten when Woody entered the doors. The best part of all was that Woody was the host of this iconic evening. If anything, this picture just shows how inclusive this nightclub was in the 1970s.
Bianca Jagger and Her Four-Legged Friend
Studio 54 somehow always managed to go one step further when it came to absurd evenings out. It was almost as if dancing and disco-ing were not enough. If you wanted to enter its doors, the bouncers would first evaluate your outfit and general vibe to determine if you could enter for the evening.
A lot of people were not cool enough and turned away, but exceptions were always made for a four-legged friend: a horse. This picture captured Mick Jagger's wife at the time, Bianca Jagger, as she was mounted on a beautiful white beast in her evening attire. There's not much more to say here except that Bianca knew perfectly well how to make a spectacular entrance.
Diana Ross Giving the DJ Booth a Try
Diana Ross was another star to frequent Studio 54. She loved the chill vibe of the club, and even though she is pictured here while taking charge of the DJ booth of the club, she was also known to break things down on the dancefloor. She even attended the club's final closing party in the early 80s.
On that particular night, she serenaded the whole club one last time as she embraced the nonchalant energy that the club stood for. She then proceeded to dance the whole night away, and there's no doubt that she lit that dancefloor up on the club's last night of existence.
A Night Out with Robin Williams and His Wife
Despite the dance floors of Studio 54 mostly roamed by single A-listers, there was a time when Robin Williams had a night out there with his wife. The pair were spotted embracing one another on the dance floor, and just looked like they wanted to have a great time in each other's company.
The two's partnership lasted a long time after this night out, and they even welcomed their first son three years after the club closed its doors for good. Clearly, Robin Williams's night out with his wife was more about having a jolly good time than being seen by the club-goers, and we absolutely love that.
Bianca Jagger Sports Her Doves
Bianca Jagger seems to have spent a whole bunch of her evenings at Studio 54 back in the good old days. Besides bringing along her white horse that one time, she also sported a pair of her doves one evening. Allegedly, the doves were part of her Grecian outfit. She wore a golden crown and had the two doves perched on her hands to finish off this outrageous look.
Definitely a bold look that most women wouldn't dare to try. There was, however, a meaning behind her outfit. When Steve Rubell, the club owner, decided to play bouncer for the evening, he only let the best of the best outfits in, so of course, Bianca scored herself a guaranteed entry with this eccentric look.
Michael Jackson Moonwalking Into Studio 54
Before Michael Jackson (MJ) moonwalked himself across stages around the world, he moonwalked through the doors of Studio 54. In the years preceding MJ's superstar status, he'd put on his best clubbing apparel, and he would spend the whole night dancing away, ripping things apart on the dance floor.
While he was breaking things down on Studio 54's dance floor, he had no idea what the coming years had in store for him. Little did he know that his appearance in the nightlife scenes of New York would change his world and everyone else's, too. It's no surprise that the future king of pop would frequent one of America's most popular disco spots at the time. The dance moves that he would whip out captured everyone in the club's attention, including celebrities like Steve Tyler, who is posing with him in this picture.
Elizabeth Taylor's 46th Birthday Celebrations
Elizabeth Taylor was not going to be outdone by anyone when it came to throwing parties, and just like other celebs we have seen here, she also threw a birthday bash at the iconic Studio 54. The beautiful babe celebrated her 46th year around the sun in NYC's finest club with none other than all her close friends and family, and don't forget the cake with her face on it.
Studio 54 was the place to be at the time, so how could she have thrown a successful fete anywhere else, really? Even in today's music and pop culture scene, Studio 54's influence can be felt where artists have cited the club as an inspiration. This happened in Lady Gaga's sixth studio album, "Chromatica," as well as in Bruno Mars' music.
Sylvester Stallone Get's Down and Dirty
Not long after his revered performance in "Rocky," Sylvester Stallone made his way to Studio 54 for a saucy night out. On this night, he hung out with John Travolta and his co-star from the flick "The Man Who Would Not Die," Joyce Ingalls. Stallone savored the chance to get his dancing shoes on and hit the dance floor with all his famous buddies at the gem in NYC.
It was common for his wife at the time, Sasha Czack, to join him on these escapades. The duo would party the night away while mingling with NYC and Hollywood's finest figures. However, the guestlist at Studio 54 was not limited to show business's A-listers but boasted legendary artists as well, like the iconic Salvador Dali. He was often spotted wearing his distinguished flamboyant outfits and his famous sculpted mustache.
Liza Minnelli Danced and Disco-ed Despite the Club's Rumors
Even though a star-studded guest list roamed the floors of Studio 54, the discotheque slowly but surely gained a slightly smeared reputation. Critics claimed that the club was riddled with illegal substances and other unsavory misadventures. The rumors grew and made the owners and organizers of the club seem like self-indulgent deviants who lacked basic morals.
Despite all the claims, the club was still frequented by A-listers like Liza Minnelli, who had no care to spend their nights at Studio 54. We are not sure if the allegations are true or not, and we guess we will never know. Either way, it didn't stop Minnelli from sporting her best disco apparel as she raved the night away or Truman Capote from getting a little too carried away with the drinks. This iconic club attracted an exclusive star-studded guest list despite the rumors that were going around at the time.
Perks Of Being a Big Name
The tennis star from the 70s, Vitas Gerulaitis, won his first Wimbledon tournament in the year 1975. As we can see in the picture, it surely won him a lot of attention and bombardment from the ladies, and considering his charm and good looks, it's really no surprise that he managed to be a slam with the ladies both on and off the playing field.
At least, that's what we have gathered from this picture. But it should be noted that this is not entirely true. Rumor has it that a lot of the beautiful women in Studio 54 back in the day were actually paid models to ensure that the big names were having the time of their lives. At least he did not seem to be minding.
Times Have Changed a Lot
We are not too sure how Robert De Niro should feel when he sees this picture of himself from back in the good old party days. This shot was taken shortly after shooting the iconic crime drama flick "The Godfather," which was released in 1974.
Despite the man's age, De Niro is still a massive force in the film sector today, and it's clear that his acclaim and talents only grew as the years went by. Perhaps this picture brings back memories from a crazy night out, or maybe he hardly remembers this night out at all. Either way, it looks like he was having a great time on this eventful occasion.
Tender Young Loving
It's clear in this picture that the two actors, John Ritters and Nancy Morgan, were swooning with love for one another. The two are spotted here on a night out on the town and seem very much like they are enjoying each other's company.
As it was, the two met while shooting the movie "Americathon" and actually got married a few years later. They also went on to have three children together. The two were known to be one of Hollywood's most adorable couples during the late 70s and early 80s. Just to think what young love must have been like in the 70s.
Truman Capote Breaks It Down Again
This is not the first time that we get to see the novelist Truman Capote get down and dirty. It's quite apparent how much this star liked to work hard but also party just as hard. This novelist was the brains behind the cult classic "Breakfast at Tiffany's" as well as the true crime best-seller "In Cold Blood."
Given that he is one of the best novelists to ever roam this earth, there really is no reason that he doesn't get to walk around Studio 54 with all the confidence he seems to be embracing in this picture. Other prominent writers who graced the scene with their presence at the same club include Andy Warhol, Norman Mailer and Gore Vidal. We think unquestionably that Studio 54 attracted a varied crowd, which went all the way from supermodels to writers, actors and pop stars.
Been There, Done That
Have you ever gone out on the town with your mates and you all find yourselves in the deep end of a drunken karaoke performance of all your favorite songs? We don't exactly know the full story behind this picture of singer Carly Simon and Karen Black from the 70s, but it sure looks like they got themselves into a karaoke ‘singathon.’
Of course, these two were giving the party-goers a far better performance than any other average karaoke singer. Karen Black showcased her talents in several musical films such as "Nashville" and "The Great Gatsby," while Carly Simon boasted several chart-topping hits like "You're So Vain." They look like they are having the absolute time of their life, and it's no wonder since they were both known for their quirky personas and impromptu ways.
Bob Fosse's Got the Dirty Dance Moves
If you're a famous choreographer like Bob Fosse was in the 70s, you can probably walk into any evening establishment and bust the moves with any lady you are picking. Of course, if we are being honest, most women don't expect a man to be a good dancer because, quite frankly, they aren't. Jessica Lange must have been quite surprised when Bob Fosse wanted to share a song with her.
Fosse was the mastermind behind all the dance moves in the flicks "Sweet Charity," "Chicago" and "Cabaret." He offered his expertise in choreography, directing and filmmaking and was known as the king of unique dance moves back then. It's no shocker here that he could easily work his way into any lady's arms with his charm, like on this night when he swept Jessica Lange right off of her feet.
Meeting Your Idol on a Night Out
It doesn't matter if you are a movie star, an athlete, an artist or an entrepreneur. Pretty much everyone has an idol, and when you get to meet your idol, it'll probably be one of the best feelings in the world. At least, that was what it looked like when Gilda Radner met her idol.
Sadly, this will never happen to any of us, but Radner certainly had a streak of luck when she got to share a dance with the king of comedy, Bill Murray. For Gilda, who was an aspiring actress and comedian at the time, this was a dream come true. It's times like these that we get reminded that anything is possible if you just believe in yourself.
NYE in NYC's Studio 54
It seems like Diana Ross could not get enough of Studio 54's dance floor back in the 70s. It's clear that the singer and actress loved to get down and dirty in her ruffled dancing attire. On this particular night, she and the other club-goers were celebrating New Year's Eve.
What better place to do so than at New York's hottest club at the time? Diana and Andre Leon Talley seem to be enjoying the moment in each other's reach. Andre Leon Talley was still in his young days here, but little did he know that he would one day be the Vogue editor and be known as a trailblazer in the world of fashion.
Suzanne Somers Getting Dancy
On one of Diana Ross's opening nights at Studio 54 in the late 70s, the party was full of Hollywood A-listers and that included Suzanne Somers. It must have been a banging party if you judge by the excitement on her face. Suzanne was one of the show business's IT girls in the 70s.
By the time this picture was taken, Somers was widely known for her role as Chrissy Snow in the iconic TV series "Three's Company." The series sprawled over 100 episodes from 1977 to 1981 and even gained an Emmy award as well as an Oscar. It's clear that Studio 54 was home to so many stars that had it big in the 70s.
Dolly Parton and Lou Ferringo on a Night Out
Lou Ferringo was all the talk of the town in the late 70s and early 80s, as this was around the same time that he starred as the main guy in "The Incredible Hulk" TV series. The series aired from 1977 to 1982 for a total of 82 episodes. Pictured here is Dolly Parton in Lou Ferringo's arms on a night out at Victoria Station Restaurant.
This was a chain of steakhouses that adorned a railroad theme, and during the chain's peak in the late 70s, there were over 100 locations spread across America. It seems like this chain was loved by many, including celebrities like these two A-listers. Sadly, the chain filed for bankruptcy in 1986, but the last chain located in Massachusetts closed its doors in December 2017.
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver at the Barry Manilow Concert After Party
Before Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver got married in 1986, the two were often spotted on a night out, enjoying each other's company. On this particular night in 1978, the two were seen at Barry Manilow's concert after a party. The pair went on to get married and had four children in the years to follow.
The late 70s was around the time that Arnold and Lou Ferringo despised one another since they were both competing with one another for roles in productions (like "The Incredible Hulk," which went to Ferrigno), as well as in the world of bodybuilding. Despite the fierce competition between the two men, they both clearly still enjoyed a good night out!
Janis Joplin on a Night Out
The American rock singer Janis Lyn Joplin was burning hot in the late 60s. She was one of the most successful and widely known rock artists in her era and was praised for her eccentric stage performances and her husky vocals.
Pictured here, she looks like she's having a ball of a time with her white fur hat and a drink in one hand and a cigarette in the other hand while she's attending a party in 1969. This picture may not have been taken in the 70s, but it's close enough. Sadly, the star joined the "27 Club" in 1970 when she was found unconscious at 27 years old in a hotel room following an accidental overdose.
Lucille Ball Having a Ball
And here we have a picture of Lucille Ball and Gary Morton at the premiere of the musical "Mame." As you can see, Ball is clearly having a ball with her leg kicking the air. Anyone who has three Emmys and one Oscar behind their name is permitted to get down and dirty like this when one of their productions premiered.
Ball passed away in 1989, but she will always be remembered for being the crazy and clumsy Lucy Ricardo from the hit series "I Love Lucy." The series was first broadcast in 1951 and ran for six seasons over 181 episodes. This was not the only TV series that Lucille had named after herself. There was also "Here's Lucy" and '"The Lucy Show," in which she had the leading roles.
Sammy Davis Jr. and the Play Bunnies
Sammy Davis Jr. was pretty much a jack of all trades. He was a dancer, singer, actor, and comedian, and apparently, he liked to attend big parties with a lot of bunny girls in the 70s too. Allegedly, he started his career at a very young age of three years old.
In 1929, he toured the States with his father, Sammy Davis Sr., who was also a musician. Just four years later, he landed his first acting role in 1933. We are not too sure where this picture was taken or what was being celebrated, but it's clear that Davis had a great life and a long list of accolades to celebrate.
A Night Out with the Stars
Here is more proof that Arnold Schwarzenegger liked to go out on the town in the 70s. This picture was taken in the summer of 1978 at the St. Regis Hotel in Manhattan, New York. This prestigious hotel has always been known to host, firstly, a lot of famous people and, secondly, highly exclusive events.
The singer Eartha Kitt, otherwise known as Mother Eartha, has definitely dressed to impress with her stunning all-white attire and the massive grin on her face. Singer and songwriter Billy Manilow also looks dapper in his disco attire and his whole "I wear sunglasses at night" look. Ah, what it must have been like to attend parties with the stars in the 70s.
Al Pacino at the Tony Awards
If there is an event to award and commemorate live Broadway theatre shows, it is the Tony Awards, also known as The Antoinette Perry Award for Excellence in Broadway Theatre. Every year, the ceremony is held in Manhattan, and in this picture of 1974, the event was attended by none other than Al Pacino.
You may be wondering who invited Al Pacino to the party since he is mostly known for his role in "The Godfather," but it turns out he has actually appeared in 12 Broadway shows and has even won two Tony Awards himself. On this night, he was one of the presenters, along with Marlo Thomas, the legendary actress and activist among a whole bunch of Hollywood A-listers.
Elton John Partying It Up with His Fellow Coworkers
As we have seen before, Elton John loved to attend a good party in his heyday. He and a bunch of his friends seem to be swinging Neil Sedaka around and have got him in the air by his feet. At this 1975 party in London, Bernie Taupin is also present, who is still to this day a music collaborator with Elton John.
Taupin is most well known for his songwriting partnership that he has with Elton John. The two have been making music together since 1967, so of course, they have every good reason to throw a good old bash together.
Aerosmith Partying it Up at the Hilton
In 1978, the movie "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" came out, and the makers hosted a movie party to celebrate this achievement. Of course, since the movie was about a rock band trying to get its claim to fame, it was only natural for the band members of Aerosmith to be in attendance at the party.
It's quite clear from the picture that there was certainly no shortage of drinks at this event! The exclusive event was held at the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel in California. Much like the St. Regis in New York, the Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills is also known to host Hollywood's A-listers through all the events that it has hosted over the years.
"The Goodbye People" Opening Party
For those of you who don't know - "The Goodbye People" was a play by playwright and screenwriter Herbert Gardner. The production had a quick run on Broadway's stages in 1968 and was even made into a film that was released in 1986.
In attendance at this opening party in New York was a whole bunch of America's creative A-listers at the time, including Carrie Fisher, known for her role in the iconic "Star Wars" saga, Paul Simon from the revered band Simon and Garfunkel, and Tom Schiller, a famous American writer. This party was clearly a mixed bag of celebrities who all came from different backgrounds in their careers but who all had one common goal: to party!
