How to Declutter & Re-Arrange Your Makeup Drawer

Having a well-organized makeup drawer is not easy. When you can locate what you need, mornings become more manageable and less stressful. Additionally, it keeps you from losing stuff and having to replace them. As makeup can harbor various microorganisms such as bacteria, it’s crucial to understand how long you should keep it. Did you know that mascara should be used for a maximum of three to four months before drying out or becoming clumpy? You will be astounded at how much clutter you can eliminate by simply following these basic guidelines.

Eye makeup, including eyeliner, mascara, and eyeshadows, should be discarded after three to four months of use. This is because your eyes have fragile mucous membranes that may become inflamed if you utilize bacteria-contaminated goods. In the worst-case scenario, you acquire an eye infection, which is really uncomfortable!

Foundations and liquid concealers should be discarded within six to twelve months of opening the bottle. On the other hand, stick concealers can be maintained for up to two years before needing to be replenished. Generally, powder-based cosmetics such as powders, bronzers, and blushes can be stored for two years.   Lip gloss should be discarded after six months, but lipstick can be adequately stored for up to a year. While you may need to stack objects or group a few “unrelated” items together (like nail extensions and eyelash extensions), keeping like items (such as eyeliners and mascara or lip liners and lipsticks) in one place or pouch can save you time and energy.
