Sons of Sahara chief Subrata Roy, Seemanto Roy and Sushanto Roy, got married in a lavish double wedding ceremony that lasted for 4 days. Seemanto tied the knot with actress Chandni Singh Toor, while Sushanto wed Richa Ahuja, the daughter of a wealthy businessman.
Subrata Roy, who has an estimated net worth of over $5 billion, spared no expenses for the over-the-top celebration. Apparently, he dropped nearly $65 million on each son – so he came close to spending $130 million for the entire event. Tens of thousands of guests were in attendance to eat delicious multinational cuisine and listen to the British Symphony Orchestra play on stage.
Vikram Chatwal & Priya Sachdev
Vikram Chatwal may be the son of Sant Chatwal, Hampshire Hotel and Bombay Palace founder, but he made a name for himself in the business, too. Aside from his career in the hospitality industry, Chatwal also dabbles in Bollywood acting. In 2006, he married actress Priya Sachdev in a lavish ceremony in India.
The wedding event was a 10-day festival for which 600 guests were flown in from more than 20 different countries. The festivities totaled to over $20 million, and over 100,000 pounds of flowers. India’s Prime Minister was even in attendance for the celebration, along with the former president of the United States, Bill Clinton.
"Kimye"
In May of 2014, Kim Kardashian tied the knot with her third husband, rapper Kanye West. The stars got married in a luxurious affair in Florence, Italy. While tabloids first reported that the wedding cost less than $3 million, it was later revealed that it actually cost over $10 million.
The event began at the Palace of Versailles in France, where guests enjoyed a lavish feast. Everyone was then flown out to Florence for the ceremony and the reception. As Kim glided down the aisle in her Vera Wang gown, Andrea Bocelli sang a beautiful song. As the two recited their vows, they stood against an incredible floral background, worth over $100,000.
Michael Jordan’s Heavenly Wedding
Basketball legend Michael Jordan tied the knot with beautiful Cuban-American model Yvette Prieto in 2013. The couple’s ceremony was held at the same location where Donald and Melania Trump were married – the Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea in Florida. Plenty of A-list stars were in attendance, like Robin Thicke and Usher, who also both performed during the event. In total, the couple’s big day cost over $10 million, but a large part of the money went towards the lavish reception.
After the ceremony, guests gathered in an enormous tent in Juniper, Florida, that was described as being “heavenly.” Thousands of candles illuminated the party and left the air pleasantly scented as everyone enjoyed a 7-layer rum cake. The couple opted for guests to donate to charity rather than buy them gifts, and they also donated all of their flowers to the Jupiter Medical Center.
The 2011 British Royal Wedding
In 2011, almost every single magazine on the planet was talking about Prince William’s marriage to Kate Middleton – a lavish affair that cost somewhere in the ballpark of $40 million. Nearly 2,000 guests gathered at Buckingham Palace to attend the wedding, which was broken down into two days of activities.
On the first day, about 1,900 people filled the abbey to view the actual ceremony. The day after the nuptials, a small percentage of those guests got together for a lunch reception, later that evening there was an additional reception for a different set of guests. Two choirs, an orchestra, and an ensemble were all on hand to keep everyone entertained. There was also $800,000 worth of floral arrangements that made the palace and the abbey even more heavenly than usual.
George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin
George Clooney was, at one point, the man of every woman’s dreams. But Clooney decided to tie the knot with his lawyer and activist girlfriend, Amal Clooney, in 2014. The couple paid for friends and family to fly out to Venice for the occasion, which cost them over $4.5 million in total.
George and Amal, along with all of the guests, stayed at the Aman Hotel, which cost nearly $5,000 per night for each room. Amal wore a gorgeous dress made by Oscar de la Renta that was worth about $380,000, while Clooney opted for a less expensive Armani tuxedo that he reportedly only spent $5,000 on. The guest list was full of other celebrities, including Bono and Cindy Crawford, whose husband was rumored to have played the role of best man.
Heiress Petra Ecclestone’s Marriage
Petra Ecclestone, daughter of Formula One legend Bernie Ecclestone, got married to businessman James Stunt in an over-the-top celebration in 2011. The ceremony, which included A-list guests like Paris Hilton, took place in the Odescalschi Castle in Rome. Ecclestone paid The Black Eyed Peas $1.5 million to perform at the reception.
DJ David Guetta also performed at the event, pulling in half a million dollars himself. Petra even arrived at the ceremony being driven by ex-race car driver, Jean Alesi.
Justin Timberlake Ties the Knot
Justin Timberlake’s engagement to Jessica Biel was the talk of the town in 2012. Since the two stars were typically so low-key, they kind of shocked everyone when they decided to have an over-the-top wedding. The couple invited friends and family to join them in Puglia, Italy, for a luxurious $6.5 million celebration.
Celebrity friends like Andy Samberg and Timbaland were in attendance, and director Bill Purple officiated the nuptials. Jessica’s “little sister” from 7th heaven, Beverly Mitchell, also came to show her support. Justin serenaded her in a Tom Ford tux as she walked down the aisle in a custom-made Giambattista Valli dress.
Heiress Delphine Arnault’s Wedding
Heiress apparent to the Louis Vuitton fashion house, Delphine Arnault, got married in the wedding of her dreams to Italian wine mogul Alessandro Vallarino Gancia in what has been called one of the most expensive weddings that France has ever seen. Would you expect anything less from the princess of the fashion world? The entire event cost the families over $7 million in 2005.
Delphine made her way down the aisle in a beautiful custom-made Dior gown by John Galliano. The reception took place at a vineyard in Bordeaux, which had been decorated with an impressive 5,000 roses. A Moscow choir provided dreamlike music during the festivities. Guests in attendance include Karl Lagerfeld and members of the Rothschild clan.
Brunei’s Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah
Brunei’s Crown Prince, Al-Muhtadee Billah, gave his parents quite the surprise when he decided to marry an ordinary citizen, but that wasn’t the only thing that was a bit out of the ordinary for the prince. That citizen just happened to be 17-year-old Sarah Salleh, who went from living an average life, to getting married in what has been called one of the most expensive wedding ceremonies to date – coming in at an estimated $6 million.
2,000 guests showed up at the sultan’s palace for the lavish affair, including the Duke of Gloucester and Prince Richard. A fleet of 100 limos chauffeured the political leaders around the area, while the couple sat atop their golden thrones in the palace. The Prince and Princess wore matching blue outfits that were embellished with different types of jewels. At the end of the night, attendees were treated to a 15-minute-long fireworks display.
Prince Abdul Malik’s Wedding
Sultan of Brunei’s son, Prince Abdul Malik, was married to Dayangku Raabi’atul 'Adawiyyah Pengiran Haji Bolkiah, a 22-year-old data analyst, in the spring of 2015. The wedding was literally decked out with gold everything and took place inside the Sultan’s huge palace. World leaders and other royal families from all over the globe arrived for the celebration.
The 31-year-old prince and his bride-to-be wore matching gold clothes and were covered in jewels. She wore a lovely tiara and matching necklace with rings made from sparkling emeralds. Her shoes had crystals on them. She also opted to carry a bouquet made with jewels, instead of the usual flowers.
Another Trump Production
It shouldn’t really come as a surprise to anyone that Ivanka Trump’s wedding was an over-the-top, ridiculously expensive event. After all, just look at who her father is. Ivanka married media mogul Jared Kushner in an elaborate $1 million ceremony. The couple enlisted the services of Preston Baily, a prominent wedding planner who charges over $100,000.
The 2009 nuptials took place at her family's National Golf Club in the state of New Jersey. Ivanka opted for a classic and elegant, custom Vera Wang gown that cost her nearly $50,000, and plenty of bling that was worth over $200,000. Jared and Ivanka have been on the up-and-up ever since.
TomKat's Castle Wedding
Fortunately for Katie, she’s free from her marriage to Tom Cruise. But just because things went south for the former couple, doesn’t mean that they didn’t have some good days. One of those days just happens to be that of their wedding – an extravagant affair that took place in a beautiful 15th-century castle near Rome. It cost about $2 million.
The two were set on having their wedding outside of Rome, which meant that they needed to fly all of their guests in for the occasion, which they did for a price of over $900,000. Celebrity friends of the couple in attendance include Jennifer Lopez and Will Smith. Guests were treated to fine dining and nearly $200,000 of wine.
Prince Albert's Big Day
This is another one of those numbers that will make your head spin. After all, an average human looks at a couple of million dollars like a lot of money – so what about $65 million? That’s how much Prince Albert II of Monaco spent on his wedding with South African swimmer Charlene Wittstock.
The marriage was held in 2011, in Monte Carlo, Monaco, and spanned the course of two days at the beginning of July. They held two separate ceremonies so that they could have both a civil and a religious ceremony, the first of which took place in the Prince’s palace. Wittstock wore a sleek and sophisticated Giorgio Armani gown for the second part of the event and they rented out a Lexus to transport them to and from the different venues. This definitely holds a rightful spot on the list of the most expensive weddings of all time.
The Billion-Dollar Wedding
Said Gutseriev, son of Russian oil tycoon, Mikhail Gutseriev, got married in Moscow in 2016. The bride was 20-year-old dental student Khadija Uzhakhovs, who wore a dress that was covered in so many jewels that it weighed nearly 30 pounds. The celebration cost Mikhail an incredible $1 billion, almost ¼ of his total net worth.
Several stars showed up to perform at the show, including Sting, Enrique Iglesias, and Jennifer Lopez, who was paid a cool million for the evening. Guests were shuttled to and from the ceremony in Rolls Royces and dined on a cake that was taller than everyone in the room. An incredible fireworks display provided the perfect end to the fairytale when it was time for everyone to leave.
Madonna's Wedding
There was no way this material girl was going to have some mediocre ceremony when she wed film director Guy Ritchie in 2000. The couple held an intimate, but incredibly lavish, ceremony at Skibo Castle in Scotland. They booked each and every room in the entire place for their guests, which included Sting and Gwyneth Paltrow.
The star-studded wedding cost the two an estimated $1.5 million, which in today’s terms equals out to about $2.5 million. Madonna wore a beautiful gown by Stella McCartney, while Ritchie decided to don a kilt, a nod to his own Scottish heritage. The castle was rife with security guards, which kept the reporters at bay until they had officially tied the knot.
Jen and Brad's Iconic Wedding
Anyone who was familiar with pop culture in the ’90s is aware of the marriage between Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt, Hollywood’s original “it” couple. The young stars tied the knot in a $1 million wedding ceremony in July of 2000. That may not seem like a huge amount of money compared to some others on the list, but it’s still quite a bit, especially considering it went down nearly two decades ago.
The event was wholly star-studded and some guests in attendance included Salma Hayek, Cameron Diaz, and the cast of "Friends," except Matt Leblanc who was working at the time. Four bands were hired to perform throughout the festivities, along with Melissa Etheridge and a church choir. Unfortunately, the marriage ultimately went downhill.
A Minelli Wedding
Eleven years after Minnelli attended best friend Elizabeth Taylor’s marriage to Larry Fortensky, Taylor would find herself returning the favor as a guest at Liza’s wedding to producer and comedian David Gest. Like Taylor, this was far from Minnelli’s first rodeo, as this marriage would be her 4th. The couple dropped between 3 and 4 million dollars on their ceremony, which took place inside the Marble Collegiate Church in NYC.
The wedding was such a huge deal that some of the biggest names in show business were in attendance, like Mia Farrow and Anthony Hopkins. The millions of dollars spent on the event went towards things like a $40,000 cake and over $700,000 of flowers. Michael Jackson actually acted as Fortensky’s best man, while Elizabeth Taylor was the maid of honor. Minnelli walked down the aisle in a custom-made Bob Mackey wedding dress strewn with crystals and pearls as Natalie Cole sang her father’s hit song, “Unforgettable.”
Alex Carl and Peter Campbell
Alex Carl, whose father is a wealthy lawyer in the DC area, married her boyfriend, Peter Campbell, in 2015. The couple first met when Campbell was basically Carl’s landlord in South Africa when she was studying abroad in 2006. The two had an extravagant wedding that spanned the course of several days and was held at Carl’s estate in the Hamptons.
The Carl’s hired esteemed wedding planner Mindy Weiss, along with a team of other professionals, to produce the celebration. Alex wore a beautiful gown from Oscar de la Renta, and 250 guests enjoyed a cigar bar and cocktails served in…ostrich eggshells. The bride’s father also hired multiple photographers and videographers, which turned into a legal battle after the family said that they never received any of those photos or videos. But those weren’t the only legal issues that came from the affair. Mindy Weiss is suing Alex’s father and claims that he never paid her for her services.
The King and Queen of Spain
Former Crown Prince of Spain, Felipe, got married to former journalist Letizia Ortiz in the Almudena Cathedral in Madrid. The lavish ceremony cost nearly $30 million and was viewed live by over 20 million people across the world in 2004. The bride wore a beautiful, custom-made gown with a trail of over 4 feet, made by the 87-year-old couturier, Manuel Pertegaz.
The extravagant affair was swarming with security that included 200 snipers on rooftops all over the area, along with 18,000 police officers. The guest list was both royal and star-studded and was comprised of the Danish Queen, Margrethe II, the Norwegian Crown Prince and Princess, and even Nelson Mandela.
Double Trouble
Making Taiwanese History
Jay Chou is a popular actor in Taiwan, and he’s also on the rise in the United States. Chou has appeared in some blockbuster hits like "Now You See Me 2." His bride, Hanna Quinlivan, is a big Taiwanese star, too, so it should come as no surprise that they’ve made the list.
The couple threw an over-the-top ceremony at the Selby Abbey in North Yorkshire. The bride wore an elegant, white lace gown by Mikael Derderian, and the groom wore a black Alexander McQueen suit with gold details. Overall, the young stars reportedly dropped around $23 million in New Taiwan money, which equals close to $1 million US dollars. The ceremony made history as the most lavish in the history of the country.
Prince Pavlos of Greece
As if Marie-Chantal Miller’s life wasn’t already a fairytale, things got even better for her when she wed the Crown Prince of Greece. And if marrying a prince wasn’t enough, throw in a $200 million dowry from her billionaire father. The wedding was an over-the-top production (well, duh,) that cost about $7 million.
The couple held the nuptials at St. Sophia’s Cathedral in London and invited almost 1,500 people. Guests enjoyed over 300 wedding cakes, one of which was 8 tiers. The bride-to-be wore a gorgeous, flowing white Valentino dress that trailed behind her for 15 feet and cost over $230,000. The dress, which was a combination of lace, silk, and pearls, reportedly took 25 people 4 months to make.
Princess Victoria and Daniel Westling
Victoria, the Crown Princess of Sweden, married former personal trainer, Daniel Westling, in a beautiful wedding ceremony that took place in Stockholm Cathedral in 2010. That’s right, Princess Victoria had the hots for her fitness instructor and decided to put a ring on it, much to the dismay of her father, the King of Sweden. Good for her for following her heart, anyway!
An impressive 250,000 guests gathered in the Cathedral to witness the ceremony, which included the royal families from all over the world. The Queen of the Netherlands attended, along with the Prince and Princess of Jordan and The Queen of Denmark. Princess Victoria wore an exquisite off-the-shoulder Pär Engsheden dress and a crown of cameos – the same one that her mother, the Queen, wore on her wedding day.
Eddie Murphy Marries Nicole Mitchell
Hollywood funnyman Eddie Murphy married former model Nicole Mitchell back in 1993, at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. About 500 guests showed up for the event, including hotel owner Donald Trump and music executive Russell Simmons. The actor reportedly dropped nearly $1.5 million, which was pretty expensive for the early ’90s!
The bride wore a gorgeous white lace gown that was strewn with crystals and pearls and had a train that trailed behind her by 12 feet. She accessorized with a matching, classic veil. The dress alone cost a small fortune at $40,000. Guests enjoyed a lavish dinner and champagne in the Palm Court, followed by $25,000 worth of cake. All of the flowers, that filled the ballroom during the ceremony, were donated to a local hospital after the celebration.
Kim Kardashian: Wedding #2
Kim Kardashian married her second husband, Kris Humphries, back in 2011, just shy of 6-months after they’d started to date. The elaborate affair cost about $10 million, a ridiculous amount of money for a marriage that would last less than 3 months. Tons of celebrities showed up to support Kim and the NBA star, including Demi Lovato and Serena Williams.
Starting with the hematite-covered invitations, everything about the wedding was over-the-top. Wolfgang Puck whipped the couple up a custom 7-foot tall cake, which cost nearly $20,000. Kim donned not one but three different custom-made Vera Wang dresses throughout the evening. But less than 80 days later, the marriage would crash and burn…
King Charles III & Princess Diana
Times were a little bit different in 1981 when Prince Charles (now King Charles III) married Princess Diana – and by times, we mean finances. What was dubbed the wedding of the century cost the royal family a whopping $48 million, which would come out to about $110 million in 2019. The dreamlike affair may have cost a pretty penny, but they kept the guest list fairly small at under 200 people.
The couple were wed inside St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, making it one of the only weddings within the royal family that wasn’t held at Westminster Abbey. Diana glided down the aisle in a gorgeous gown that was custom-made with 10,000 pearls and a train that was about 25 feet long. If that dress were to be recreated today, it would cost an estimated $41,000.
James Bond's Wedding
Former 007 and Mamma Mia star Pierce Brosnan got married to journalist Keely Shaye Smith in a beautifully intimate ceremony in Ireland in 2001. The wedding was held at the Ashford Castle Hotel, set in a 13th-century castle, which sits next to the biggest lake in Ireland – talk about an incredible backdrop for a wedding! Apparently, Brosnan hired the best wedding planners he could find to help them create the ceremony, which Smith called, “a mixture of The Secret Garden and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
About 120 people were invited to join the couple for the celebration, which was mainly all family members and close friends. The area where the vows took place was decorated with nearly $15,000 of flowers, and everyone enjoyed a 6-tier cake, which was made to be a replica of the same one that JFK and Jackie O had at their wedding. In total, the extravagant affair cost about $1.5 million, money well spent considering the happy couple is still together to this very day!
Sporty Spice Wedding
Victoria Adams, also formerly known as “Posh Spice,” got married to soccer player David Beckham in 1999. While David has recently been quoted as calling his marriage to Victoria, “hard work,” the two are still going strong today. The celebrities spent a (comparably) mild $1.1 million on the celebration, with only $800,000 of it going towards the actual ceremony. Of course, this was before 2000, so you can imagine what it might have cost in today's money!
Victoria and her new husband sat upon golden thrones in the Luttrellstown Castle outside of Dublin. The bride wore a stunning Vera Wang gown with a 20-foot train and of course – a golden tiara. As for the cake, the couple requested that the toppers be nude figurines of themselves. Not everyone could get away with a bold move like that, but these two certainly can. Yum!
Chelsea Olivia and Glenn Alinskie Finally Wed
Glenn Alinskie and Chelsea Olivia are celebrities from Indonesia. The two dated for nearly 7 years before they decided to take the plunge in 2015. They got married in a lavish, Catholic ceremony at the Church of Santa Maria Patron of the Assumption.
The bride walked down the aisle in a stunning off-the-shoulder gown made with white lace, and a matching veil. They held their reception in the Hotel Mulia Senayan in Central Jakarta, where guests enjoyed a lovely castle-shaped cake that towered over the room at an impressive 15 feet tall and was worth an estimated $4.5 million. The theme of the affair was “enchanted garden,” and they definitely nailed the whole fairytale, dream wedding thing!
Elizabeth Hurley and Arun Nayar's Big Day
Actress Elizabeth Hurley wanted to feel like a princess when she wed Tyco Vice President Arun Nayar in 2007, and what Elizabeth Hurley wants, Elizabeth Hurley gets! The couple tied the knot in an extravagant international affair that spanned the course of a week and cost nearly $2.5 million.
The first part of the festivities was the Anglican wedding, which was held at Sudeley Castle in England. After the traditional wedding, they flew out to India for a Hindu ceremony, along with a week full of other activities. Flights between the countries for the couple and their guests ran them around $300,000, along with the $100,000 they spent on hotel rooms.
Christina Aguilera’s Big Day
In 2002, superstar Christina Aguilera met music producer Jordan Bratman in Atlanta while she was there working on an album. The two instantly hit it off. Bratman wound up moving back to Los Angeles with her and three years later – they got married in a beautiful ceremony that cost around $2 million.
Although Christina Aguilera has always been very humble, she of course still wanted to have the fairytale wedding of her dreams, and she did just that. 150 guests were invited to a small ceremony at the Staglin Family Vineyard in Napa Valley, California, where the couple exchanged vows amidst a sea of multi-colored roses. Christina said, “I do,” in a custom-made Christian Lacroix dress and Louboutin heels.
Paul McCartney and Heather Mills
Former Beatle Paul McCartney married Heather Mills at a gorgeous remote castle in Ireland in June of 2002. 300 friends and family members gathered at Castle Leslie in Glaslough to enjoy an Indian-themed celebration that cost about $3 million. McCartney’s former bandmates, Ringo Starr and George Harrison were in attendance and joined Paul on stage for a performance at one point.
Ironically enough, the venue was one of the least expensive parts of the entire production, which seems a bit odd considering it’s a castle. After the ceremony, which took place in the middle of $140,000 worth of flowers, guests were treated to a lakeside vegetarian feast. Guests were also treated to a lavish fireworks display in the evening.
Sir Elton John’s Wedding
Elton John’s marriage to his partner, David Furnish, happened in the midst of the UK’s legalization of same-sex marriage in 2014, so the ceremony was understandably over-the-top. The couple reportedly dropped over $2 million on the celebration, which took place in England at the Windsor Estate.
The couple were fairly modest in their choice of tuxedos, spending only $10,000 for both of them. But what they saved from wardrobe, they made up for with edibles, spending upwards of $130,000 on luxuries like champagne and caviar. Celebrity friends including Ed Sheeran and Victoria Beckham attended the celebration, which came 9 years after they had already been in a civil partnership.
Angelababy Ties the Knot
Those in North America may not recognize the name above, but they may know a thing or two about Chinese actress Angel Yeung, one of the most popular actresses in the Eastern world and fondly known as the “Chinese Kim K.” Aside from her major roles in her country, she’s crossed over into international acting with smaller roles in films like "Hitman: Agent 47." In 2015, Angelababy married fellow actor Huang Xiaoming, in an over-the-top ceremony that cost over $30 million.
2,000 guests were in attendance at the Shanghai Exhibition Center, but even more were watching the ceremony online. The nuptials were held in a beautiful holographic castle that looked like something straight out of a fairytale, and the cake was an impressive 10 feet tall. Yeung walked down the aisle in a gorgeous custom Dior gown made from ivory satin and tulle. In the end, Yeung spent about three times more on her special day than Kim K did on all her weddings.
Sargis Karapetyan and Salome Kintsurashvili’s Wedding
23-year-old Sargis Karapetyan, son of Armenian billionaire Samvel Karapetyan, got married in an elaborate wedding ceremony in June of 2016 in Moscow. The event cost upwards of $2 million, and took place in Safisa, the same venue in which Said Gusterieve held his $1 billion celebrations earlier that year.
The groom’s father funded the entire production, including the bride’s 3 custom-made gowns, one of which was a $35,000 Elie Saab. 500 guests, which included the President of Armenia, came together to enjoy a performance by Maroon 5 and a bedazzled cake that towered over everyone in the room at nearly 20 feet tall.
Butterfly Wedding
English soccer player Wayne Rooney married his wife, Coleen Mcloughlin at the La Cervara Abbey in Italy. Mcloughlin flew to NYC 6 different times to find the perfect wedding dress, which she finally found in the form of a $130,000 gown from Marchesa.
Rooney flew guests out to the extravagant location in private jets, and everyone had lunch on a yacht. During the ceremony, guests were each given a small box full of butterflies that they were asked to let go as they said their “I do’s.” All expenses were covered for each of the guests and in total, the event cost nearly $7 million.
A Neverland Wedding
Larry Fortensky met Elizabeth Taylor in 1988 during his stay at the Betty Ford Center, where they both checked in for substance abuse issues. The two hit it off and ended up getting married in 1991, making this the 8th time Taylor would tie the knot. The couple spent just around $2 million for the event and had it at Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch.
The wedding, though not quite as expensive as some of the other ceremonies on the list, was still packed full of celebrities and luxury. The star-studded guest list included big names like Eddy Murphy and Liza Minnelli. The bride was walked down by Michael Jackson in her pastel Valentino gown valued at $25,000. The wedding was so high profile that members of the paparazzi were literally jumping out of planes to get inside and get some photos.
Martin Lee Ka Shing's Whopper Wedding
Director of Hong Kong and China Gas Company, Martin Lee Ka Shing, isn’t concerned about spending his money – especially when it comes to making his fiancé happy. The billionaire decided on a fairly small ceremony, with 150 guests who were all flown to Sydney for his wedding in 2006. The entire affair cost a reported $90 million – enough to provide food for an entire country.
Martin married former model and actress Cathy Tsui in a ceremony that was put together by some of the best wedding planners on the planet. The nuptials took place in the Royal Botanical Gardens in Sydney, which boasted a view of the Opera House. The bride wore a 50-carat diamond necklace, along with her new 5-carat ring.
Mariah's Wedding
In the ’90s, singer Mariah Carey was on top of the world. The diva was at the top of all of the Billboard charts, and she and music exec-boyfriend Tommy Mottola had a beautiful wedding ceremony. When the pair tied the knot, they reportedly only dropped about half of a million, but when you factor in inflation, that would be about $1 million today.
The elegant affair was held in 1993 at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church in New York City. The guest list was comprised of all of the biggest names in the business, including Bruce Springsteen, Ozzy Osbourne, and Barbara Streisand. Mariah walked down the aisle in a puffy Vera Wang gown with a 27-foot-long train trailing behind her. The couple held an intimate but lavish reception at the Metropolitan Club after the nuptials.
An Intimate Affair
When Hollywood royalty like Blake and Ryan come together to celebrate their love, you know they’re going to do it in the biggest possible way. The adorable, fun-loving actors tied the knot in 2012, in a secretive ceremony at Boone Hall Plantation in South Carolina, which just so happens to be where parts of The Notebook were filmed. The nuptials were so intimate that only 35 guests were there to witness them.
Lively wore a custom-made gown designed by Marchesa, which she later revealed that she accidentally burnt a hole in during the reception while Florence Welch (from Florence and the Machine) performed. Although the stars wouldn’t divulge exactly how much they spent on the occasion, some reports put it at least over $1 million. After all, Reynolds did give Blake a 12-carat ring, and that has to come with a big bill.
Chelsea Clinton’s Lavish Affair
Chelsea Clinton, daughter of former US President Bill Clinton, married investment banker and longtime friend Marc Mezvinsky in 2010. The couple had a lavish interfaith ceremony in upstate New York that was rumored to have cost nearly $5 million. Security at the event was crazy, and even included a no-fly zone over the venue, which cost an estimated $200,000.
Clinton wore a custom-made Vera Wang gown when she walked down the aisle on her father’s arm. The wedding cake was an elaborate, multi-tiered, gluten-free creation, to appease Chelsea’s allergy to it, and cost over $10,000. Compared to some weddings on this list, Chelsea had a fairly small guest list of about 500 people, which included stars like Barbara Streisand, Steven Spielberg, and Barack Obama.
The Marriage of Tiger Woods
Golf pro Tiger Woods went all out to impress bride-to-be Elin Nordegren when they tied the knot back in 2004. Woods rented out an entire resort in Barbados and flew in 500 roses to decorate the place. He rented not only the rooms but the beachfront area and the golf courses, too. In total, he dropped around $2 million on the lavish affair.
Woods also reportedly booked all available spots on that day with the only helicopter company available on the island, which meant that paparazzi couldn’t do the same to get aerial views of the event. Guests that joined the couple in Barbados include sports stars like Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan. Unfortunately, as incredible as the ceremony was, it wouldn’t be enough to hold the doomed couple together.
Tori Spelling Ties the Knot
90210 actress Tori Spelling got married to her boyfriend, Charlie Shanian, at the L.A mansion of her parents. While she may have saved some money on a venue, she sure made up for it in other areas of the wedding, which she decided to do in a Great Gatsby theme. 350 guests arrived for the affair which was organized by wedding planner to the stars, Mindy Weiss. Guests in attendance included the rest of the 90210 cast, as well as the couple’s friends and family members.
Tori walked down the aisle in an elegant lace dress, worth an estimated $50,000. The two said their “I do’s,” under a gazebo that was completely covered in roses. At the reception, everyone enjoyed drinking from a champagne fountain. The celebration lasted until after 2 am, when the last guests headed out after being handed a chocolate chip cookie and shot glass full of milk. Cute and classy!
Spy Wedding
Hollywood royalty Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones tied the knot in a spectacularly expensive and over-the-top wedding that cost over $1.5 million. The couple went with a spy theme, which began from the very moment the guests received their invitation – written in invisible ink and all.
The lavish nuptials took place at the Plaza Hotel in NYC and hosted an array of A-list guests and performers. Jack Nicholson and Sean Connery showed up to support the couple, and Jimmy Buffet and Art Garfunkel delivered amazing performances throughout the festivities. A large portion of the funds spent on the wedding went towards Catherine’s wardrobe which consisted of a $140,000 Christian Lacroix dress and a $300,000 tiara.
Sean Parker's Fairytale Wedding
Napster founder and original Facebook president Sean Parker tied the knot in a spectacular wedding that seemed to be pulled straight from a fairytale. He married Alexandra Lenas in the middle of Big Sur – something that is not inexpensive to do. In fact, he spent $2.5 million on securing the park as the venue, something that he didn’t actually have the proper permits to do. Parker dropped a whopping $10 million total to create the over-the-top event.
The affair was a mixture of "Lord of the Rings" and "Game of Thrones," and the forest around the ceremony truly looked enchanted. They built a cottage, gateway, and dance floor which angered some due to the location but created the wedding of Parker’s dreams. The bride strolled down a long white carpet made of fur in her gold and ivory Elie Saab gown. Over 300 guests showed up for the nuptials, including Emma Watson and Sean Lennon.
Billionaire Andrey Melnichenko's Wedding
Andrew Melnichenko is ranked as one of the richest men in the entire world, according to Forbes. In 2005, he married model Aleksandra Kokotovic in a ridiculously expensive ceremony that cost him upwards of $30 million. Rumors swirled around that the Russian billionaire actually had a chapel shipped from his home country to France and had it put back together for the ceremony.
Superstar singers Whitney Houston and Christina Aguilera were on the roster for the event’s entertainment, each of which apparently charged over $3.5 million. Kokotovic, in addition to her modeling career, was named Miss Yugoslavia in 2002.
Trump Wedding Number 2
Donald Trump married First Lady Melania back in 2005 in a moderately expensive ceremony. The lavish affair was held in Palm Beach, Florida, at the Bethesda by-the-Sea Episcopal Church. Amazingly, the celebration only cost $1 million, which doesn’t seem like much for people who literally have walls full of gold in their house, and who had a golden stroller designed for their infant.
But just because they didn’t spend nearly as much as some others on this list, doesn’t mean the ceremony wasn’t extravagant. After all, several high-profile guests were in attendance, including Hillary and Bill Clinton, Matt Lauer, Elton John, and Heidi Klum. The couple even hired Billy Joel to perform for the event.
A Dolce & Gabbana Wedding
Can anyone keep up with the Kardashians anymore? Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker got hitched thrice. The first time was in Las Vegas and the second time in Santa Barbara. The third and final wedding ceremony (which everyone keeps talking about) unraveled in Portofino, Italy. Surrounded by close family and friends, the couple looked like a million dollars in this stunning 16th-century castle monument. And that makes sense, given that this shindig cost them around $3.5 million.
If you want to have your wedding in this 'objet d'art' of a venue, it'll only set you back by about $4600 if you book it over the European summer months. Unfortunately, this price tag doesn't include Dolce & Gabbana-designed wedding attire or the Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli that serenaded them into the night.
A Legendary Affair
Everyone adores Chrissy Teigen and John Legend for their growing family and candid social media posts, but we will never get over their 2013 Italian wedding. The duo exchanged "I dos" while looking at a gorgeous view of Lake Como, surrounded by lush florals. The exact cost isn't known, but the wedding involved one of the most exclusive wedding venues in the world, three Vera Wang dresses, and a $200000 engagement ring to kick things off, so we're sure it hit the million mark pretty quickly.
The Villa Pizzo region is where the pair allegedly fell in love while on holiday. Hence, their chosen destination wedding was befitting, considering where their love story began. Of course, we're dealing with John Legend here; obviously, he serenaded his newly wedded wife with his biggest hit song, "All of Me."
THE Wedding of 2023
The picture-perfect wedding of Sofia Richie and Elliot Grainge was set on the French Riviera in April 2023. This wedding most definitely pushed the envelope when it comes to celebrity destination weddings. The couple selected the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Rock in Antibes for their nuptials. The event set the couple back (or, whoever was paying) an estimated $4 million. The venue itself cost over $1 million.
The beachfront sanctuary offers panoramic ocean views, overlooking the Mediterranean, and is arguably one of the most exclusive resorts in the French Riviera territory that has hosted a number of royals and politicians over its 150-plus-year history. The bride had three custom-made dresses from Chanel, one for each day of the wedding weekend events: the rehearsal dinner, the formal ceremony, and the after-party.
Billionaire Babies
Hotel Heiress Nicky Hilton and banking heir James Rothschild wedded at Kensington Palace (yes, you heard that correctly, and yes, the official residence of the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate). The wedding was as enchanting as you would expect a wedding of two billionaires to be!
The blonde beauty wore a dramatic white Valentino haute couture wedding gown composed of three different shades of ivory and silver and abundantly adorned with crystals. The showy wedding was a three-day affair that included cocktails on the first day, a black-tie reception on the following day, and ended off with a lavish lunch on the final day.
Damon's Day
It's been a long time since 2005 when the actor Matt Damon married the then-bartender Luciana Barroso. Yes, it was many moons ago, but one can't help but reminisce about this special day. The nuptials took place in Sugar Beach resort on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia.
Surrounded by the serenity and beauty of nature, the island is bordered by rainforest and used to be the heart of an 18th-century sugar plantation. But alas, this did not come cheap, as it was reported that the actor splurged around $1 million to rent out the full resort for the weekend. This could also be your destination wedding if you have a million bucks to spare!
Humbly Lavish
American sweetheart Anne Hathaway married jewelry designer Adam Shulman in 2012 at a private estate on the rugged coastline just south of San Fransisco. A relatively small affair, with only about 180 guests (we said relatively), surrounded by wilderness in Big Sur, California (Fun fact: Natalie Portman also got married in the Big Sur region).
Red carpet fans and movie lovers may have assumed that she would wear Prada, but in fact, it was a vintage-inspired Valentino gown, after all. The decor of the outdoor ceremony was inspired by nature and featured plenty of branches and outdoorsy ornaments. The affair cost about $1 million, with $100,000 of that going solely towards flowers.
Oh, to Be an Heiress
The heiress Ivy Getty, the great-granddaughter of billionaire oil magnate J. Paul Getty, wedded Tobias Engel, a photographer, in a perfect matrimony held in San Francisco's City Hall, in the fall of 2021. Coming from an oil tycoon family, it's understandable how this precious granddaughter secured herself a wedding valued at a couple of million dollars. It is well known that the town hall in SF is an absolute treasure that celebrates and embodies the American golden age of the late 1800s.
With bronze-coated gates and staircases, it's tough to match the elegance of this venue. The bride's dress was an absolute jaw-dropper and featured four coatings as well as actual fragments of a shattered mirror — a totally vintage masterpiece of a dress to match their 1960s wedding theme.
Love-All
It was a fairytale affair when the tennis star Serena Williams wedded Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. Serena didn't use Reddit, and Alexis wasn't really into tennis, but we think it's safe to say this is a star combo. The two met in Rome while lodging at the same hotel and got engaged a year later at that very hotel.
A year after that, the two wed in New Orleans in 2017 at the Contemporary Art Centre. The wedding reception was more of a ball, in the Beauty and the Beast-themed hall. The space was bedecked with chandeliers, abundant flowers, long tables draped in lamé fabric, trophy-type place cards, and of course, royal throne-like seating for the newlywed couple. Apparently, the wedding racked up close to $4 million to run.
Try, Try Again
So nice they did it twice! In the summer of 2022, Bennifer (Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez) got married two times. The first time was a private elopement in the "little chapel" of Las Vegas (classic). The second ceremony was an absolute showstopper extravaganza on Affleck's sprawling Georgia estate.
The estate has previously been described as: "a remarkable re-creation of a Southern antebellum Greek Revival plantation home." The wedding itself may have not been too fancy, but Affleck had already bought the 87-acre hideaway in 2003 for a hefty $7.1 million. The wedding weekend commenced with a rehearsal dinner on Friday night, followed by the ceremony on Saturday, including only a few close-knit loved ones, and ended with a BBQ on Sunday.
The Balds and the Biebs
The world can't seem to get enough of a blockbuster wedding, can it? Nope! And it was no different when Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin wedded in 2019. The two did an initial private ceremony in a courthouse in Manhattan the previous year, but it was the lavish Montage Palmetto Bluff hotel ceremony in South Carolina that had everyone talking for weeks! The event cost the couple $1.3 million.
The nuptials ensued in the Somerset Chapel, followed by the reception in the Wilson Ballroom. It was important for both lovers to get married in a religious church ceremony, as they are both Christians. The venue is centered on a nature preserve overlooking the May River — an astounding setting for any wedding!
At Least They'll Always Have the Photos
Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello were in seventh heaven when they wedded in 2017. The exquisite day took place with 350 loved ones at the monumental Breakers Palm Beach resort in Florida. The altar was laced with luxurious strings of white flowers flowing down from the ceiling.
The reception was held at the resort's Venetian-style ballroom where luxury was spelled out with bombarding red floral arrangements and crystal chandeliers. The couple opened with a dance to Frank Sinatra's "The Way You Look Tonight." With a price tag of over $3 million, it's no wonder this was such a lavish event. Sadly, though, it wasn't a forever match as the two announced separation in 2023.
A Diva's Wedding
The illustrious couple Céline Dion and René Angelil were married in a glorious winter ceremony in 1994. Notre Dame Basilica in Montreal is where the nuptials took place. This emblematic venue is Montreal's mother church and was Canada's first-ever gothic-type church. At the time, the wedding cost $500,000, which today would equate to just over $1 million.
The historical, artistic, and religious significance is what makes it the sacred gem of Quebec's heritage and one of Montreal's most visited destinations. The nuptials were followed by a reception at the Westin Hotel Mont-Royal that was graced by the star couple and 500 guests. Sadly René passed away in 2015 from throat cancer, leaving behind his widow and their three children.
Anything Goes When You're a Billionair
The Mexican-born actress Salma Hayek and French businessman François-Henri Pinault got hitched on Valentine's Day in a French court in 2009. The pair later did an elaborate do at the oldest Opera House in Europe, Teatro La Fenice, situated in Venice, a city that is part of Italy's 118 little islands divided by canals. The fancy event cost over $3.5 million!
The wedding gave fairytale vibes, with 150 A-list guests, including Bono, who serenaded the couple. The wedding weekend kicked off in Venetian fashion with a masquerade-themed ball dinner followed the next day by exchanging rings with 150 close friends. The post-wedding fete took place in the billionaire groom's stunning Venetian palace overlooking the Grand Canal. If that doesn't scream class, then what does?
The Wedding of Bel-Air
In 2021, heiress and reality star Paris Hilton tied the knot with venture capitalist Carter Reum, and it was as big of an event as you'd imagine it was. The pair wedded at the Bel-Air estate of Hilton's grandfather, Hilton Hotels founder, Baron Hilton. The lavish affair cost an estimated $2 million, though it's likely the real cost was even more than that.
Paris wore an Oscar De La Renta gown that was hand-embroidered with flowers above the waist, and she looked every bit the elegant princess that she was born to be. She actually wore six dresses over the whole wedding (which lasted three days). The couple welcomed both a son and a daughter in 2023, and are clearly settling into married life quite well.
A Wedding Fit for Royalty
The British royal family famously foots the bill for weddings, and while the average British taxpayer might not be too happy about it, they do produce some impressive affairs. Princess Eugenie's wedding was no different, and she married businessman Jack Brooksbank in 2018. It's estimated that the wedding cost just under $5 million. That's maybe not as much as some other royal weddings, but it's still nothing to turn your nose up at.
The wedding event spanned two days and was star-studded with dignitaries, celebrities, and fellow royals all in attendance. Everything was beautiful, as you can imagine, and guests were treated to a real royal celebration for this much-loved princess.
I Wanna Marry Harry (And I Did!)
The wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made headlines across the world. It was one of the most anticipated weddings of the year, maybe even the decade, and the British royal family spared no expense. The wedding cost around $40 million, which is mind-boggling, though not as much as William and Kate's celebration.
Still, it's estimated that the wedding, in turn, generated around £1 billion for the British economy between tourism and merchandise, so overall it seemed like a lucrative deal. Meghan's custom Givenchy wedding dress is known the world over, and we don't remember what Harry wore, but we're sure it was well worth the price tag.
The Second Beckham Wedding
It's noted jokingly that the whole of Hollywood attended the wedding of Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz, and while it may be a joke, it's not far off from the truth. This wedding was full of drama, culminating in a $4 million price tag with 500 of their nearest and dearest.
The couple tied the knot at Peltz's father's Palm Beach estate in Florida in a traditional Jewish ceremony. Proud father David Beckham apparently gave a teary-eyed speech that pulled the whole night together. He even needed to stop to take a breather! So far, it's been smooth sailing for the new Beckhams.
The Jordanians Know How to Party
Jordanian Crown Prince Hussein got married in 2023 and, as you can imagine, the celebrations were not low-key. In fact, they cost an estimated $75 million. Yeah, you read that right. This lavish affair was the kind of thing dreams are made of. Royalty from around the globe attended (and even Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner cracked the list), and there was a state banquet with 1700 guests.
The wedding was held at Zahran Palace, where the current king and queen were also married in 1993. The Jordanian royal family spared no expense for its future king, and the couple looked over the moon the whole time. We mean, wouldn't you be?
The Princess of Jordan Gets the Royal Treatment
The wedding of Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan was mind-boggling, and while his sister's wedding didn't live up to that standard, it was still pretty flamboyant. Princess Iman married businessman Jameel Alexander Thermiotis in March 2023, just ahead of her big brother's wedding.
It was clearly a busy year for the King and Queen of Jordan, but they were only too happy to see their precious children married off. Jameel is actually from a Greek family but primarily lives in New York, where presumably the two will settle down. The US is no unchartered territory for Princess Iman, who completed most of her schooling there.
A Bubbly Blond Wedding
Jessica Simpson married fellow blondie, Eric Johnson, in a four-day wedding extravaganza in 2014. And hey, entertaining and feeding 275 guests for four days is no cheap ordeal. In fact, the whole shebang came to $1.4 million.
The singer and American football star tied the knot at the San Ysidro Ranch in California, which in general is expensive, and the Johnson-Simpson wedding happened over the 4th of July weekend, so you can just imagine how that upped the costs. Then came the wedding dress which was custom Carolina Herrera, and Simpson was a vision. All in all, two kids down the line, Jessica and Eric don't seem to have any regrets about their big day.
Drunk in Love
Jay-Z and Beyonce have been the "it" couple for decades now, and their 2008 wedding really kicked things off. They were each already moguls at the time, so tying the knot only secured their place at the top. Their wedding was undeniably lavish, and there is a rumor — though we can't confirm — that the flowers alone cost $8 million.
We don't even know how that's possible, but most of them were Beyonce's favorite white dendrobium orchids shipped from Thailand. Romantic, we guess. More than a decade later, the King and Queen Bey are stronger than ever, and they've even thrown a few kids into the mix.
Mariah's Second Time Down the Aisle
Mariah Carey isn't known for her subtlety. She likes things big and lavish, and her first wedding was exactly that. But after that marriage fizzled out, she was ready to fall in love again. And that she did with Nick Cannon, and the two had a crazy lavish affair that came with a price tag of $4 million.
The couple tied the knot in the Bahamas in 2008, and despite the price being tremendous, it was a relatively secret bash. In 2011, they welcomed their twins, but sadly in 2014, they parted ways. 2008 was a long time ago, but the memories of their lavish wedding certainly live on.
An Indian Getaway
Katy Perry and Russell Brand were only married for 14 months, and they were engaged after three months of dating. So, pretty much a whirlwind romance if you ask us. Still, this rollercoaster relationship didn't come cheap, and the couple got married in India in style.
For around $2 million, they flew out 80 of their nearest and dearest to a tiger sanctuary in Northern India, where everyone was pampered for a full week. Sadly, the union was not meant to be, and while both parties have moved on, we're sure their wedding guests will never forget the wild ride they had to celebrate the couple's nuptials.
Movie Star-turned Princess
When American movie starlet Grace Kelly, at the tender age of 26, married Prince Rainier III of Monaco in 1956, it was hailed as the wedding of the century. The celebrations cost $2 million (in 1956!) and over 600 esteemed guests were in attendance. And when we say esteemed, we're talking Carey Grant, Ava Gardner, and more royals than you can imagine.
No expense was spared (this is Monaco, after all), and Kelly's dress alone cost $60,000 (again, in 1956!). The marriage was short-lived for the worst reason, ending with Grace's untimely passing in 1982. Though, in their time together they had Albert II, the reigning monarch of Monaco, whose wedding also made its way onto this list.
Princess Beatrice Says "I Do"
In 2020, Princess Beatrice broke away from royal tradition by privately funding her wedding with her fiance, instead of allowing the British royal family to pay. Her husband-to-be was Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, a British millionaire property developer hailing from a noble Italian family.
The wedding may have been privately funded, but it did take place at Windsor Castle, and Beatrice wore a tiara on loan from the Queen (it was actually worn by the Queen on her own wedding day). So while this could be considered a more private affair, given that it was 2020 and all, it's unlikely that the celebration cost under $1 million.
Tiffany's Time to Shine
Tiffany Trump doesn't get the same kind of spotlight as her sister, Ivanka, but she's still doing okay, folks. In fact, she got married in 2022! Tiffany married Michael Boulos, a fellow heir to a billion-dollar fortune. Fun fact: the couple met at Lindsay Lohan's club in Greece! They probably bonded over how many private yachts they owned. We jest.
The wedding was held at Mar-A-Lago in Florida, a Trump-owned favorite of the family. The spectacular celebrations cost an estimated $1.5 million, which, between two billionaire families doesn't sound all that crazy, if you ask us. Things were expectedly lavish and the bride's Elie Saab dress alone cost $300,000.
Doing the Rockefellers Proud
Ariana Rockefeller is the heiress to the Rockefeller fortune, and boy what a fortune she stands to inherit. In 2010, she married her long-time love Matthew Bucklin in a ceremony at the family's Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Garden on Seal Harbor, a long-standing favorite of the Rockefellers, and their private home for some time.
The exact price tag of the affair isn't clear, but 250 guests were treated to utter luxury for the day, so it's highly likely that the celebrations cost over $1 million. The couple had a good run, but ultimately parted ways in 2019. Sad, but hopefully Ariana will find love again, and have someone to share her lavish life with!
A Sweet Affair
Dylan Lauren is the daughter of world-renowned designer Ralph Lauren, and while she's got big shoes to fill, Lauren has made a name for herself in her own right. The Dylan's Candy Bar entrepreneur married businessman Paul Arrouet in 2011, in style.
The nuptials were held on the Lauren private family estate in New York, and her dress was designed by who else? Her father! That had to be a pretty emotional first look for her dad. Guests traveled from the lawns to the pool throughout the celebration, and the couple had what can only be described as a fairytale wedding.
The Monarchs of Great Britain
In 1947, the then-Princess Elizabeth married Philip Mountbatten at Westminster Abbey. As the heir-apparent to the British throne, Princess Elizabeth's wedding was destined to be tremendous. Her dress cost $42,000 at the time, equating to over $1.6 million today. And that's just the start.
Over 200 million people across the globe watched (well, listened to on the radio) the future queen of England get married. It would be hard to count the number of royals who attended the momentous affair, let alone non-royal dignitaries. This was a real who's-who of the era. While the full cost is unknown, the British royal family footed the bill, and we're sure it wasn't small.
Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo
Rocked romance! Frontman of Maroon 5, Adam Levine, and Victoria's Secret cutie Behati Prinsloo got hitched in 2014. In a secluded romantic ceremony in front of 300 guests, the couple exchanged vows at the flourishing Flora Farms in Los Cabos, Mexico. And with the craziest choice of officiant — Jonah Hill!
Serenely stowed away at the foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains, the 25-acre organic farm boasts an intimate farm experience. The beautiful bride wore a sleek, white, celebration-ready gown designed by Alexander Wang, revealing sheer panels on the torso and, down past both hips — an absolute masterpiece. The couple dropped an easy couple of million on the ordeal, though the final number is up for debate.
Cowboy Chic
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are a love story for the ages. These songbirds tied the knot in 2021 on an Oklahoma ranch, and boy was it extravagant. We're talking two Vera Wang dresses, chandeliers lighting up the ranch, flowers galore. It was everything you can think of for a Western-themed fairytale. Fun fact: their wedding cake was a replica of Gwen's parents' wedding cake!
The elaborate affair had rumors flying about the cost, some sources saying it cost as much as $10 million. But honestly, these two looked so in love that they could have gotten married in an empty barn and wouldn't have noticed. Although, we're sure the glam helped the ambiance.
An Italian Aristocratic Wedding
What happens when two Italian nobles decide to wed? You get the most extravagant affair you've ever seen. Vera Arrivabene and Briano Martinoni Caleppio did just that in 2021, and all we can say is, wow. The couple married at the 17th-century San Pantalon church in Venice (after arriving via GONDOLA). The bride wore a custom Prada gown (made out of recycled nylon, mind you) as well as a family tiara made of pearls and diamonds.
They then held the reception at Vera's family home, which happens to be the Aman in Venice (look it up, you won't be disappointed.) The couple described their wedding as very "homey and cozy," which is kind of hilarious coming from the aristocracy, but sweet nonetheless.
