The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
Alicia has the dream life, but one day her husband comes home and she shoots him dead. From that moment on, she never utters a single word, making her refusal discuss her murderous action, the most buzzed-about case ever. This book will surprise you from being to end. It’s no surprise that it was voted the best thriller of 2019.
The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris
While Jodie Foster and Sir Antony Hopkins are unforgettable in the movie version, the book is far denser and gives a lot more insight and into the psychology of Hannibal Lecter. Thinking of Hopkins while reading these characters adds even another dimension.
My Lovely Wife by Samantha Downing
The story follows a couple that kills people as a hobby, and still, it’s a bag of surprises. We don’t want to raise expectations, but the main character’s insane plot just might blow you away. It’s also not as gory as you might think, though, for some, that’s not always a good thing.
My Sister, The Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite
Ayoola, Korede’s sister is charming and gorgeous and now she has to see just how far she can go to protect her — especially now that Ayoola’s third boyfriend in a row is dead. While its definitely for the mystery lover, there is an element of comedy in the book that makes it an interesting and new kind of subgenre of the thriller novel.
Sharp Objects, Gillian Flynn
Gillian Flynn is one of the most hyped about suspense writers out there. From the film adaptation of her book “Gone Girl” to the show based on this very book “Sharp Objects” Flynn has got crime dramas down to an art. The story follows a journalist who returns to her hometown after a young girl is killed, but she ends up getting a lot more involved than she ever dreamed of.
