Wooden or Faux Wood Blinds
Blinds made of wood or faux wood can be cleaned in the same way that other types of blinds are cleaned. Fill a bucket with warm water and add a few drops of dishwashing soap to thoroughly clean your wood or faux wood blinds. Following that, gather a microfiber cloth or, in a pinch, a clean sock. Wipe each slat clean by lightly dipping the fabric in sudsy water (or by slipping the sock over your hand and dipping). A tiny bit of plain water or furniture polish put directly to the cloth or sock for natural wood blinds would suffice.
Avoid saturating the wood since this will cause the coating to deteriorate. To finish the task, completely dry the material, irrespective of whether it is wood or imitation wood. Would you like to maintain the cleanliness of your blinds in between cleanings? Here’s a tip that will shave off a few minutes from your routine: To begin, bring your vacuum cleaner and its dust-brush attachment out (the one with the bristles). Following that, close your blinds and run your vacuum on the lowest setting over the slats. Repeat the procedure on the opposite side by tilting the blinds in the opposite direction.
Fabric Blinds
Owners of fabric blinds do not require as much deep cleaning as owners of wood or vinyl blinds do. If you discover a tiny spot, gently blot it with a wet cloth and allow the material to dry. If that fails, the blinds may require dry cleaning.
Consider a basic beauty appliance for a quick weekly fix: your hairdryer. Adjust the styler to the cool setting and blast each slat to eliminate dust from difficult-to-reach areas. Don’t forget to vacuum the floor afterward to ensure that the dust is completely removed.
Vinyl Blinds
There are numerous methods for cleaning vinyl blinds, but if yours are heavily stained, dusty, or greased, particularly if they are in the kitchen, you may want to bathe them. Fill a bathtub halfway with warm, soapy water and soak the blinds for a few minutes in the solution. Following that, run a sponge over each slat. Rinse well with water to eliminate any remaining residue and dry on the shower rod.
Try this no-water-required remedy in-between cleanings: Grab a rubber or silicone sponge and run it over the slats without moistening it. Keep a clothespin handy so that if you need to take a break, you may clamp the pin to the last slat you worked on and remember where you left off. Once your blinds are spotless, tilt them open to allow the sunlight to shimmer off your dust-free surfaces.
